Emilia Clarke is the latest cast member of HBO’s hit “Game of Thrones” series to parlay its success into a role on the big screen, landing the female lead in action thriller “Overdrive”.
Game of Thrones fans know her better as Daenrys Targaryen, featured prominently in the Season 1 finale of the show that saw her dragon eggs hatch into live baby dragons.
With just a TV movie and a guest spot on a single episode of a UK TV series to her credit previously in her acting career, Clarke won the equivalent of the acting lotto when she was chosen to replace actress Tamzin Merchant after the pilot for “Game of Thrones” had already been filmed.
“Game of Thrones” was nominated for 13 Emmys and is currently filming Season 2, which is scheduled to air in the spring of 2012.
